Agriculture is in our genes. The Kröpfel family has been involved in agriculture, agricultural machinery and harvesting technology since 1922. Because we are convinced of the health-promoting properties of our ingredients for both humans and animals, and because we support our suppliers’ sustainable landscaping practices, our love of nature and the knowledge we’ve gained through this are reflected in our high-quality oils. A Family History

Grandfather Franz Kröpfel lived with his siblings, maids, and farmhands on his small farm in Feldham, Upper Austria. A trained master cooper, he began dealing in farm machinery in Attnang-Puchheim after World War I and founded the farm machinery distribution company under the name Franz Kröpfel as early as 1922. Even during World War II, in 1940, Franz purchased a commercial property in Attnang-Puchheim, where his son Helmut took over as managing director in 1965.

Traditional values, personal relationships with business partners, and direct, friendly communication with people remain a top priority for the Kröpfel family to this day and are one of the driving forces behind their success.
In 1992, after 70 years in the waste management industry, the Kröpfel family stepped down and handed over the business to Energie AG, which had over 400 employees at 11 locations.

KR Helmut Kröpfel acquired a farm with more than 2,000 ha of arable land near Lake Balaton, Hungary, in the late 1980s. Together with his daughters Elisabeth and Martina, he cultivated over 500 hectares of the land with oil pumpkins. For decades, the farmland was used both for growing feed for the company’s own dairy herd and for cultivating oilseeds, such as poppy seeds and rapeseed.

Thanks to the large-scale cultivation of pumpkins and close collaboration with the pumpkin seed harvesting company Moty, enthusiasm grew not only for this fascinating oilseed but also for the harvesting technology. As a result, Kröpfel acquired Moty in 2001 and continued to develop the harvesting technology. In addition to technological advances, sales markets were expanded (to Russia and Ukraine), and production was relocated from Styria to Upper Austria.
At that time (2001), pumpkins were being grown on our farm in Upper Austria. The first trial fields in Feldham, Upper Austria, were a great success—and now pumpkins have become a staple in Upper Austria as well.

Tradition and the Future:
Since 1968, Helmut Kröpfel has been passionately collecting historic and historically interesting tractors. This avid collector is particularly drawn to models from the period spanning World War I through the 1950s. This era is of the utmost interest to him, both technically and historically, as it was marked by change, upheaval, and innovation. The family-owned collection now includes more than 170 historic and exotic tractors.
